Your First Visit
Choosing Legacy Dental Care for your family’s dental needs means that you have a professional team on your side. Our dentists, Dr. Sandon Wiedemann, Dr. Laiton Wiedemann, and Dr. Jayde Wiedemann, provide comprehensive oral evaluations to serve you better and protect your oral health.
We ask that you leave about two hours open to complete your new patient exam. We want to be sure to get an accurate picture of your oral health and spend some time understanding your oral health goals.
What Your Dental Exam Includes
One of our dentists will go over a thorough checklist and discuss their findings with you.
- Comprehensive exam of each tooth
- Assessment of current dentistry
- Periodontal evaluation and exam
- Jaw and bite assessment
- Discussion of home care and products
- Cosmetic consultation (if necessary)
- Diagnostic x-rays and photos
Once the dental exam is complete, our dentists will go over their findings and any recommended treatment to ensure you have all of the information necessary for accurate oral health decisions.
Children’s Exams and Cleanings in T2X 4K8
We welcome children from their very first dental appointment and will adjust their treatment to meet their needs as they develop and grow.
We recommend kids have their first dental visit by age one.
Custom Dental Cleanings in South Calgary
No two patients are alike, and we customize your dental cleaning recommendations to eliminate any signs of periodontal disease and help you maintain optimum oral health.
Prophylaxis – We usually recommend a routine dental cleaning that includes a scale and polish for patients with few oral health concerns.
Mid-level dental cleaning – For patients with heavy calculus or the early stages of gum disease, a more thorough dental cleaning might be necessary to reduce gum inflammation and eliminate tartar.
Deep cleaning – For patients with advanced gum disease, a periodontal dental cleaning called root planing and scaling will be the first step to managing your condition. Deep cleanings may take more than one appointment to complete.
Periodontal maintenance – Once we complete a deep cleaning, a routine dental cleaning maintenance programme of three to four dental cleanings per year will help keep gum disease at bay.
