Meet the Team at Legacy Dental Care

At Legacy Dental Care, our three dentists are also brothers who share a passion for dentistry and caring for our patients. We strive to provide reliable and comfortable dentistry in an atmosphere where patients can feel at home.

Part of our mission is to take the fear out of dentistry by developing trusting, long-term relationships with the families we serve. By focusing on prevention, our goal is to help every member of your family avoid many of the oral conditions that put smiles and overall health at risk.

General Dentist Dr. Laiton Wiedemann

Dr. Laiton Wiedemann

General Dentist

Dr. Laiton Wiedemann was born and raised in the “small town” of Medicine Hat. He completed his Bachelor of Medical Sciences between the Medicine Hat College and the University of Alberta. In 2014, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry with his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree and moved to Calgary with his wife Anne-Marie.

Following his two older brothers into the profession, Dr. Laiton carries a strong passion and love for dentistry. In his downtime at work, you’ll often find him reading and discussing cases online with other dentists or researching the latest techniques. He thoroughly enjoys all aspects of practice, however he has a special interest in pediatrics – whether its for their first visit or more complex restorative care. He is always on the lookout for quality continuing education courses to improve his skills and prides himself on delivering the best care possible to his patients.

Outside the office, Dr. Laiton enjoys running, backpacking, playing hockey, snowboarding, and almost any other activity that keeps him active. His wife, 2 kids, and their dog Rowdy do their best to keep up.

General Dentist Dr. Elisha Chapman, DDS

Dr. Elisha Chapman, DDS

General Dentist

Dr. Elisha Chapman was born and raised in Calgary. She obtained her Bachelor of Science with honours from the University of Calgary and went on to the University of Alberta where she completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Since graduating in 2015, Dr. Chapman moved back home to Calgary and has practiced here ever since.

On a daily basis Dr. Elisha finds general dentistry fairly enjoyable; taking the time to meet and connect with patients is one of her favourite parts. Clinically, she has taken a strong interest in early intervention orthodontics for children as well as general orthodontic care for adults. Dr. Chapman approaches every appointment with the intent to provide a gentle and individualized dental experience. Taking that extra time and approach empowers the patient to be more involved in their care and take control of their oral health.

Outside of work, you’ll find her often taking on some DIY projects around the home, gardening, art and spending time with her friends and family.

General Dentist Dr. Jayde Wiedemann

Dr. Jayde Wiedemann

General Dentist

I grew up in Medicine Hat, Alberta. At the time, it was a city of 55,000 but felt very much like a small town. After two years of study at Medicine Hat College, I moved to Edmonton to begin my dental education at the University of Alberta. Upon graduation in 2011, I decided to further my dental training by entering a general practice residency offered by the University of British Columbia. This program, based in Vancouver General Hospital, provided me with the opportunity to further my dental skills and knowledge and gain valuable insight in the ways in which medicine and dentistry work together.

What initially attracted me to dentistry was a love of science combined with the significantly challenging technical component of dentistry. What I did not expect from a dental career was how much social interaction it would involve. This has become my favourite part of my job. I love chatting with and getting to know new people every day.

When I am not working, it is a safe bet I will be spending time with my wife and our two young children.

Dr. Tania Cheema

Dr. Tania Cheema was born in Kitimat, British Columbia and found her hometown lived up to its name which translates to “People of the Snow”. After relocating with her family to Calgary, she completed her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary. Dr. Tania then made a small trek out to Portland, Maine to complete her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of New England. Enjoying being by the ocean but craving a warmer climate, she then moved to St. Augustine in Florida for a year before moving back home to Calgary.

Dr. Cheema enjoys all aspects of dentistry and working compassionately with patients to improve and maintain their oral health in a way that is manageable. She takes the time to make patients feel comfortable, understood, and informed about their care.

In her free time Dr. Cheema enjoys exploring the city and making most of the copious amount of sunshine we get. She is also an avid foodie and loves to discover new local hotspots to enjoy.

Dr. Sandon Wiedemann was born and raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta. After high school, he moved to Edmonton where he attended the University of Alberta and graduated with a B.Sc. in Physiology and Development. Dr. Sandon then moved across the continent to Cleveland, Ohio where he earned his Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree from Case Western Reserve in 2013. Upon graduation, he was awarded a scholarship for Excellence in Clinical Achievement. After practicing dentistry in the Cleveland area for two years, he moved back to Calgary in 2015 to spend more time with his family.

Dr. Sandon prides himself on providing the most up to date techniques in the field while ensuring every patient is relaxed and comfortable. He is very passionate about dentistry and finds getting to know each patient the most rewarding part. Outside the office, he is continually searching for courses and reading materials that will continue to improve the care he provides each patient.  For the past few years he has spent many hours attending courses taught by one of the best dentists practicing today, Dr. John Kois.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Sandon enjoys living an active lifestyle and loves being close to the mountains for hiking, camping, skiing and has recently taken up hockey and curling. During his time in Cleveland, he was involved with many leadership roles and volunteering at the local free clinic and looks forward to giving back similarly to the community of Calgary for years to come.
